The Doors
In the summer of 2005 I came into possession of a box of 12” x 12” gallery wrap canvases. At that time I would hang out in coffee shops, drink coffee and sketch thumbnail compositions using a China marker. From there some of the best compositions would be faithfully transferred onto a canvas. While sketching ideas for the square canvases in my possession I noticed what appeared as an outline of a door set in a roughed in desert composition. The suggestive outline of the door was inspiring. A few days later the sketch was faithfully transferred onto a 12” x 12” canvas. That is how the first door painting, amongst dozens, came into existence.
